#MamasBravas™

#MamasBravas™
is a tribute to the many mamá Latinas who have sacrificed everything to raise strong  and productive Hispanic American families. “Over 21.2 million (all) immigrant women reside in the United States since 2013 with many traveling by foot, sea and/or air, facing near death experiences, isolation and decades of separation from family. Saving their children from hunger, political unrest, and even violence, for  a better future, continues to underscore a Latina mother’s plight for a safer and better tomorrow in America.” Mi Mamá Es Una Brava™, Gabriela Alcantara-Diaz, Founder-President, Semilla Multicultural, Latin Biz Today Editorial.

Salute to our agency’s biggest cheerleader, the founder’s mamá Uruguayan-born, Gladys Maria Alcantara. “My mother was my biggest cheerleader. My maverick. My rock. She always encouraged women, both young and old, to enrich the lives of their families by pursuing their dreams. She would often say, an intellectually fulfilled woman will always nurture her family with great joy and comfort.” Gabriela Alcantara-Diaz, Founder and President of Semilla Multicultural, Inc.

My Momma Brava™, lovingly known as Mom, Modder, Nana, Nini panini… It doesn’t matter what we call her, these are all loving names that each of her daughters, granddaughters and great grandkids have assigned to her. She holds the highest place in my heart because of who she is, how she lives and how she loves “all”. Quite old-fashioned, yet open-minded with an even bigger heart —a selfless heart at that. She exudes a quiet firm elegance all the while with a wicked hidden sense of humor you never see coming! She writes the cutest direct letters that can make you laugh, cry, and calm you all at the same time! She’s my rock and my foundation. My mother, my greatest treasure who fills my soul and completes me. Helen Miguel, Center Director, Miami Dade.

Why my mom is Brava! She lost her mother when she was just a little girl and her first born son just days after his arrival into the world; she courageously divorced and got on a flight alone to start a new life in a city where she knew no one. There she met the love of her life, had two daughters and became a mom her mother and first born would be so very proud of! My sister and I aspire to be just like her!!
